Sudoku Team Building

A team game that fits in a coffee break. Drop a link in your team chat, colleagues join from any browser without an account, and you solve one sudoku together or race each other on the same puzzle.

Start a team room

The organiser signs in with Google to open the room. Everyone else joins from the invite link as a guest, with just a nickname.

How to run a session

  1. 1Open a room and pick co-op or battle, and a difficulty: easy for a short break, harder for a longer slot.
  2. 2Paste the invite link into Slack, Teams or your meeting chat.
  3. 3Colleagues open it on a laptop or phone and join as guests. When everyone presses Ready, the puzzle appears for all at once.
  4. 4Play, and when you finish, the host starts the next round in the same room with one tap.

Three ways to play as a team

  • Solve it together

One shared board. Each player's colour shows who is working where, and the host can turn on scores to count who placed what. Two to four people per board works best, so a bigger team can split into a few rooms, like breakout rooms.

  • Race on the same puzzle

Everyone solves the identical puzzle on their own board. Progress bars show how far each colleague has got, never their numbers, and the first correct finish wins. Hints are off, so the race is fair.

    Start a battle →
  • Keep a weekly office league

Turn the daily sudoku into a week-long competition: invite colleagues to a weekly duel, solve each day's puzzle whenever it suits you before Sunday ends, and a leaderboard ranks everyone by points. It starts again every Monday.

Why sudoku works for teams

Everyone already knows the rules, so there's nothing to explain before you start, and nobody has to draw, act or be put on the spot. It's a quiet game: people can chat while they play or simply focus.

It runs in the browser on laptops and phones alike, so remote, hybrid and office colleagues play on the same footing. Difficulty levels from easy to extreme let a mixed team pick a puzzle that is fun for everyone.

Questions

Do colleagues need an account?

No. Anyone with the invite link joins as a guest with just a nickname, with nothing to install. Only the person who opens the room signs in with Google. The weekly duel is the exception: everyone in it signs in, so the leaderboard knows who is who.

How many people can play?

A battle has no fixed limit, since everyone races on their own board. On a shared co-op board two to four people per room works best, so a larger team can split into several rooms. A weekly duel holds up to 20 people.

Does it work with Zoom, Teams or Slack?

Yes. It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install or connect: share the invite link in your chat and play on your own screens while you talk.

How long does a round take?

That depends on the level you pick and how quick your team is. Easy puzzles fit a short break; hard and expert ones suit a longer session.
