What changes at medium
At easy, every move is a digit with one place left in a box. Medium adds the other singles: a digit with one place left in a row or column, and a cell where only one digit fits (a naked single). Now and then a quick elimination, like a pointing pair that immediately leaves a single, opens the way.
Medium grids start with 29–33 clues, and the forced cells are further apart: after you place a digit, the next certain move is often in a different part of the grid.
Tips for medium puzzles
- Look for hidden singles in rows and columns, not just boxes: ask where the 7 can go in row 4.
- When a scan comes up empty, check a crowded cell: if its row, column and box already hold eight different digits, the ninth is the answer.
- Pencil marks start to pay off in the tightest boxes. Auto-notes can fill them in for you.
Questions
Is medium sudoku hard?
Not really. It uses the same kind of logic as easy, just more of it, with fewer clues to lean on. If you can finish easy puzzles reliably, medium is the natural next step.
Do I need to guess on medium sudoku?
Never. Every puzzle on this site has exactly one solution that can be reached by logic. If you feel stuck, there is a forced move somewhere, and the hint button will show you one.
Can I solve a medium sudoku together with someone?
Yes. "Play this with a friend" opens a multiplayer room at medium. Share the link and you both work on the same board at the same time.
